Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to set up and manage low and high angle technical rope systems, while managing scene for patient and rescuer safety.
Course topics included in this five day course: scene size-up and management; knots, anchors, mechanical advantage, belaying, ascending and descending; establishing and managing low and high angle vertical rope systems; constructing high lines with a midpoint drop; patient packaging, litters, and managing litters during transport; attending to a litter, taglines and tethers; lowering and raising systems; and mitigating challenges typical or unique to low and high angle haul systems (establishing anchors, knot passing, on scene communication).
